Roger Bower is the owner and visionary behind Crown Point. It is his commitment to the land that has elevated Crown Point to its place of distinction. An entrepreneur and rancher from Texas, Roger formed a deep understanding of what it means to be a steward of the land. He saw the potential of Happy Canyon and purchased Crown Point in 2012. An avid horseback rider, Roger often rides among the vines. Roger has made Crown Point his home and is focused on his vision for the property, its vineyards and the art of winemaking.
The Consulting Winemaker
A native of Bordeaux, France, Philippe Melka is an acclaimed winemaker and geologist, whose extensive training has led him to work with some of the most renowned vineyards and wineries in Bordeaux, Italy, Australia and Napa Valley.
Melka joined Crown Point in May 2017, drawn to the distinct terroir of Santa Barbara County. “The potential to create extraordinary wines is what drew me to Crown Point specifically." It’s a special place that is blessed with distinct topography, climatic conditions, and soil types.” As Consulting Winemaker, Melka continues to utilize his background in soil studies and winemaking to support farming decisions and vineyard techniques unique to the estate.
The Consulting Winemaker
Born into a viticultural family in Pomerol, France, Michel Rolland graduated with a degree in Oenology from the University of Bordeaux in 1970. Recognized as one of the most influential oenologists in the industry, Michel has consulted with over 250 world-class wineries throughout 14 countries around the world and is credited with contributing to the evolution of viticulture and winemaking as it is known today.
Driven by his belief that, above all else, quality wine is made in the vineyard, Michel was drawn to Crown Point for its exceptional terroir, quality viticulture and distinct vision. As Consulting Winemaker, Michel adds another layer of excellence to Crown Point’s first-rate wine program, contributing his unparalleled knowledge and expertise to help cement Crown Point’s status as a world-class producer of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Born and raised in France, Simon Faury earned his Master’s Degree in Viticulture and Enology from the University of Bordeaux and has since worked in some of the most prestigious wine regions in the world, including Barolo, Bordeaux, Yarra Valley, Mendoza and Napa Valley. Armed with an impressive resume that includes such esteemed names as Château Pichon-Longueville Baron, Domaine de Chevalier, Cantina Rizzi, Robert Mondavi Winery, Bodega Michel Rolland, Harlan Estate and Merryvale Vineyards. Simon brings a depth of experience to his role at Crown Point, ever driven by his passion, focus and commitment to excellence.

The Vineyard Manager
Juve Buenrostro knows the vineyards at Crown Point intimately. He has over 20 years of experience in vineyard work and management in Happy Canyon. He lives on the estate with his family, and walks the vineyard daily. Juve’s uncompromising attention to detail and dedication to the property is exhibited in each and every block of the vineyard.
The Chief Financial Officer
Twana Connors, a Texas native, has been an integral part in the leadership and management for Roger’s companies since 1995. Each with uniquely different personalities, they have developed a complimentary and long lasting business partnership. Twana is a Certified Public Accountant, with progressive experience in finance and operations management.
Twana moved to California in the fall of 2015 to join the Crown Point team. She lives near the estate with her husband Earl, an artist and California native.
The Marketing & Hospitality Manager
Jennifer Kocian has a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from University California of Santa Barbara. Given her educational background and practical training in hospitality and event planning, Jennifer is dedicated to serving others, building relationships, and looks forward to connecting with you.
Jennifer is a native of the San Fernando Valley and has made Santa Barbara her home since 2004. While residing in Santa Barbara, she is always open to experiencing something new.
After planning two successful million-dollar fundraisers for the Santa Barbara Wine Auction, Jennifer was eager to focus her skills on the vineyard, and her love of wine. Jennifer has been an essential part of the Crown Point team since the first vintage release in 2016. The success of Crown Point has become a true passion and she believes the best is yet to come.
